A domain name is your company's permanent address on the Internet. A domain name can be expressed with a string of four 8-bit numbers, called a dotted octet, which looks like this: 216.22.185.19 However, it is much easier to memorize a domain name expressed with words than a series of numbers.

A domain name makes it easier for your customers to find you on the Internet. A domain name makes your company look professional and distinctive. With a domain name you won't have to advertise your company's new address every time you change Internet provider.

Domain names are given on a first-come-first-serve basis. Once your domain name has been registered, you have a right to it. You can move it to another hosting provider, sell it, or keep it inactive until a later date.
